Frequently Asked Questions
I like to keep things simple.
Here are answers to some of the questions I’m most often asked about my handmade skincare, made in small batches in West Yorkshire.
What makes handmade skincare different from commercial skincare?
I know what ingredients have gone into my handcrafted skincare and I take pride in only using the gentlest, organic plant oils, natural butters and waxes. Unlike commercial skincare which mostly use synthetic ingredients and water (not good for hormones or sensitive skin), there are no hidden nasties or chemicals entering your body, only the good stuff. I keep my recipes simple too, using ingredients because they have a purpose—not because they have (slightly scary sounding) scientific names.
Why is handmade skincare better for dry and sensitive skin?
Many people with dry and sensitive skin choose handmade skincare because it is made with nourishing plant oils and waxes and natural butters. From the velvet soft kokum, shea, mango and cocoa butter blends in my body butters, to the hydrating and enriching gentle safflower and hempseed oils used in the original’ The Wonder’ Face Balm - you can rest assured that Wonder Organic Skincare will nourish and hydrate you at the same time.
How long do your skincare products last?
As with all natural, anhydrous (non-water) skincare, my products have a 12-18 month expiry date. But…. 👇🏼
How should I store handmade skincare?
To maximise product longevity, it is recommended that you store the skincare in a cool, dry place away from sunlight.
Can I use your handmade skincare on my face?
Yes, certainly. In fact it was ‘The Wonder - Face Balm’ that debuted the skincare range. In addition, my face products use ingredients that are rated 0-1 on the comedogenic scale which means they have very little chance of clogging pores for those people who are prone to acne. Therefore my skincare is suitable for not only people with very sensitive skin, they are also suitable for people with very oily skin, and everyone in between.
Do you formulations produce the products every time?
Inevitably, natural ingredients can vary slightly from batch to batch, with it being handmade in small batches, so there may be a slight deviation in texture, but the formula and the process is always the same so you can rest assured that you will receiving the same benefits with every purchase.
Is your skincare vegan, cruelty-free and organic?
Yes, yes and yes. My handmade products are made using plant oils, butters and waxes and do not contain animal-derived ingredients, nor are they ever tested on animals.
Is your soaps scented with fragrances or perfumes?
No, never. I only scent my skincare with carefully chosen essential oil blends rather than synthetic fragrance oils.
Each blend is chosen to complement the product while keeping my recipes simple and true to my approach of using ingredients because they have a purpose and are suitable for sensitive skin.
Do your products contain palm oil?
No. We do not use palm oil in our handmade skincare. Instead, we build our recipes using ingredients such as shea butter, mango butter, kokum butter and coconut oil.
Are you sure your products are suitable for sensitive or dry skin?
My products are only made with the most simple, gentle ingredients that many people prefer for dry or sensitive skin.
However, as every skin type is different, we recommend checking the ingredient list and carrying out a small patch test before use.
Can your skincare be used by the whole family?
Yes, my products are suitable for everyday use as they are used with handpicked, very gentle, non abrasive and non-astringent ingredients.
For younger skin, I recommend use from around 36 months and upwards.
Can pregnant women use your skincare products?
I advise that all pregnant women seek GP advice before using natural skincare. There are only very specific carrier and essential oils that pregnant women are advised to use. We do sell a CPSR compliant ‘New Dawn’ face and body serum that is suitable for mums-to-be and also non-scented versions of various products too that are suitable fro pregnant women.
What does “naturally occurring in essential oils” mean?
Some ingredients listed (such as limonene or linalool) are naturally present in essential oils.
They are listed for transparency and to meet cosmetic regulations.
Do you list full ingredients?
Yes. Every product includes a full ingredient list on both the product page and the label.
We believe in being clear about what goes into everything we make.
Do your products meet UK cosmetic regulations?

Each one has been independently assessed and certified as safe, with a Cosmetic Product Safety Report.

Where does the name ‘Wonder Organic Skincare’ come from?
I am passionate about spreading the good word of organic vegan, skincare after I felt the ‘wonder’ of its benefits after I started formulating my own products. Access and inclusion are the values I live my life by, and ‘handcrafted, organic, vegan and affordable’ are the business’ ethos.
